AVOID SLOWING DOWN
COMMON PRACTICES THAT SHOULD BE AVOIDED WHEN USING ORACLE CAMPUS IN ORDER TO AVOID SLOWING DOWN:
#1. Always LOGOUT properly on each web page that you open. Never click the close [x] button only. If you do this, the connection to the server that you abandoned will be retained for the next 20 minutes before it is allocated to anyone else.
#2. Use only your assigned instance. We have segmented all of you to different servers in order to balance the access. If you keep using servers assigned to others, there is a chance that you will disrupt the balance and it will cause undue slowing down.
#3. If possible, refrain from opening multiple instances OR logging in simultaneously using one or more computers. The more you do this, the more chances that you will encounter clashes resulting in COBOL errors and the like.
#4. When doing searches, it is advisable to limit the search keys. If you can use the ‘=’ sign and provide the full USN or ClassNumber, it would be better. The more complicated the comparands (<=, similar to, etc.) are, the longer the searches will take
#5. When transacting on a screen, always click the TRANSACT or SAVE or whatever action button only once. Do not keep on clicking, each click that you do will restart your last transaction ONLY AFTER 60 seconds of the first. Therefore, if you click it 3 times, you will wait for 60 seconds, then another 60 seconds, then and only then will the system process your last request. The more you click, the longer it will take.
Hope this helps.
